This meeting was conducted utilizing teleconferencing and electronic means consistent with Government Code Section 54953, as amended by Assembly Bill 361, in relation to the COVID-19 State of Emergency and recommended social distancing measures.

Vice Chairperson Ross called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM

If appropriate, the item will be referred to Staff or placed on a future agenda.

Director Richardson provided updates:

  • La Mesita Park: Exercise equipment (phase 1) is being installed. Opening on February 14. Resurfacing of tennis courts postponed due to vendor being delayed for weather.
  • Collier Park: A tree fell during storm. Hardscape is starting to be poured.
  • Waite Park: Presented draft master plan to City Council on January 24, funding for environmental studies was approved.
  • The California Park and Recreation Society conference and expo is in San Diego this year. Opportunities for the commissioners to attend and/or volunteer.
  • Park Master Plan: Will be assessing several parks with Consultant. Survey was approved and will be sent out soon.

Management Analyst Thompson announced:

  • Opening of the Youth Advisory Commission time capsule will be held at City Hall on February 13, at 4:30pm.
  • Earth Day is April 22, at MacArthur Park. There will be an opportunity to paint a tile for Collier Park

Commissioner Dean shared that the  compositing program at the Community Garden will be ending.
