APPROVAL OF THE FISCAL YEAR 2025 DRAFT BUDGET

This item has attachments.  

There was discussion among the board regarding the option of purchasing a diesel versus electric mower for the park. A diesel mower was approved in the Budget Option A at the March 5, 2024 meeting. Board Member Metschel asked for details regarding battery duration and life span for electric mowers as well as battery lifespan and replacement/recycling. Assistant Director of Public Works Ornelas stated the current specifications on electric mowers depends on different variables and cannot be truly measured at the moment. Board Member McMillan stated Helix Water District does not support a diesel mower and Helix is not satisfied with the cost proportion of the budget. Board Member Arapostathis stated as technology progresses La Mesa will make electric based decisions.
